Milky Way over the Leon Mow Dark Sky Site

The core of the Milky Way rises above a ridge of gum trees at the Leon Mow Dark Sky Site, the Astronomical Society of Victoria's observing field at Ladys Pass in central Victoria.

It was a cloudy night. Low cloud drifted in from the right of frame and caught the faint glow of the horizon, but the galactic centre stayed clear, with its dark dust lanes and the warm, glowing star clouds of Sagittarius and Scorpius standing out against a sky full of stars.
